We did not have internet on the ship so I will update tonight. We are in Buffalo, NY tonight. We will be going to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls tomorrow.
Last Sunday we got on the ship. It is an older ship, and while it was clean and the crew was fantastic, it is definitely ready for a makeover. Someone said they will probably sell it instead of refurbish it.
Monday was an at sea day. I took a class to learn to make Sushi. It was lots of fun and I will be making some at home. Cecil will eat it as long as there is no raw fish in it!
Tuesday we were in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had booked a sailing trip in the afternoon. Unfortunately it was cancelled because of the weather. I wanted to see the Citadel so I walked up in the rain. My son had told me it was a steep hill and he was right. I did make it and spent the morning exploring. I got back to the ship to have lunch with Cecil. We spent the afternoon on the ship.
Wednesday we were in Sydney, New Brunswick. Cecil was a little under the weather so I went exploring on my own. It was an interesting town with several unique stores. I visited one church that had been visited by several of the English royal family. Queen Elizabeth was there when she was still a princess. They had a pipe organ that had been made especially for the space in the church. It was installed 100 years ago and is still played every Sunday. It has been played by organists from the Tabernacle Choir as well as other prominent organists.
Thursday was Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We took a trolley tour that showed us the town and some history of the area. We had Scallop sandwiches at a local restaurant. It was a great tour. The tour guide was the 8th generation living on the island. His children are the 9th.
Friday was another at sea day. We explored and listened to some great music.
Saturday we were at St. John, Nova Scotia. We took a tour that went to the bay of Fundy. The tide was low, so we got to see how much the tide rises. The boats were sitting on crates so they did not sit on the mud in the bay. We had lobster sandwiches which were very good. It was very fresh lobster. We saw quite a bit of the area and had a very knowledgeable tour guide.
Today was getting off the ship and driving to Buffalo, NY. Tomorrow we are going to see Niagara Falls from the Canadian side.
All in all it was a great cruise. We met some wonderful people and enjoyed talking to people. Our table in the dining room was for six, but for the first three nights it was just the two of us. On Wednesday, we were waiting for the dining room to open and there was a group of three that were hoping to be able to get a table. We arranged for them to sit at our table and had a great time with them!
